Port NOLA’s unique geographical location, inland connections and diverse capabilities set us apart. We are a deep-draft port located on the Mississippi River via the Gulf of Mexico with access to 30-plus major hubs such as Memphis, Chicago and Canada via 14,500 miles of waterways, 6 Class I railroads and interstate highways. And our network of ocean carriers and barge and truck lines is always growing. The Port NOLA Gateway offers integrated and seamless logistics solutions between river, rail and road. FACILITIES: The Port’s facilities include 20 million square feet of cargo handling area and more than 3.1 million square feet of covered storage area and 1.7 million square feet of cruise and parking facilities. Port NOLA’s container facilities are located at its upriver terminals at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal Complex, while breakbulk facilities are located upriver, downriver and on the Inner Harbor. The Port’s cruise terminals are located downriver at Julia and Erato Street. STATEWIDE ECONOMIC IMPACT: Maritime activity within the Port of New Orleans is responsible for 21,700 jobs, $4.3 billion of output and $76.8 million in state taxes. FEDERAL ECONOMIC IMPACT: An estimated 119,510 jobs in the U.S. are dependent on the cargo that is handled by the Port of New Orleans. Those jobs account for $29.8 billion of economic output.
