Power2X was established in 2020 to develop, deliver, and operate large scale clean molecule projects enabling competitive and sustainable transformation of hard-to-abate industry, chemicals, and heavy transport. Backed by a large institutional investor -the $700bn Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), Power2X focuses on two high-conviction businesses: Industrial Hydrogen and Methanol/Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). The Industrial Hydrogen business works to deliver low carbon and RFNBO Hydrogen in the Rotterdam-Rhine corridor for heavy industry and power. The Methanol and SAF business unit develops new renewable value chains based on low-carbon, bio, and RFNBO Methanol (produced in most advantaged locations globally), that is imported and converted at large scale in industrial demand hubs across Europe to fuels and feedstocks, serving aviation and maritime transport and chemicals sectors. The Power2X eFuels Rotterdam project (eFR) is Europe’s largest eSAF project under development.
