Prep Hoops began in March of 2012 to fill a gap in the coverage of college-bound prospects. The top players were being followed and publicized, but there remained a significant number of talented, potentially college-bound prospects that weren’t getting the coverage they deserved. As a result, Northstar Hoops Report was born in Minnesota. Within 18 months, Prep Hoops began their expansion across the country with the ultimate goal of offering comprehensive prospect coverage in every state. Today, we’re in 23 states from coast to coast with plans for continued expansion. By covering prospective players in all divisions – Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, NAIA D1 and D2, and Junior College – Prep Hoops helps student-athletes fulfill their dreams. In addition to publishing the most comprehensive grassroots, high school, recruiting coverage & analysis, Prep Hoops runs first-class tournaments and showcases. In 2016, Prep Hoops’ fall showcase series, the Top 250 Expo, hosted 3,000 prospects over 30 sessions in 17 states. Prep Hoops hosted 7 tournaments, where our writers were on-site providing coverage and analysis on prospects at all levels, with write-ups available online to our 400+ college-coach subscribers. In the winter of 2017, Prep Hoops launched RecruitMe, an online platform that serves as an intermediary for high school players and college coaches. In RecruitMe, players create their ‘Recruiting Resume’ and join a database where college coaches can watch highlights, read stats, and learn about performance in the classroom. Prep Hoops’ expansion will feature more events still, offering more opportunities for prospects to showcase their talent in front of Prep Hoops staff and college coaches across the country. As Prep Hoops continues to expand our online coverage and events, the goal remains the same: to continue to be the most comprehensive resource for high school basketball evaluation and recruitment in each state and, ultimately, the country.
