Preservation Idaho is a Boise-based nonprofit organization focused on protecting Idaho’s historic and cultural resources through education and advocacy. For more than fifty years, the group has worked across the state to preserve places that reflect Idaho’s unique built environment, collaborating with public and private property owners to help them recognize and value architectural and historic significance. Its services center on raising awareness, guiding preservation efforts, and mobilizing volunteers through an all-volunteer board and various committees, with activities funded by memberships, donations, sponsorships, and grants. The organization operates within the nonprofit sector and does not rely on ongoing government operating funds, positioning itself as a community-driven advocate for historic preservation. A recent development notes the organization adapting to engaging the community remotely, offering ways to participate in preservation from home during times when in-person events may be limited.
