Prevent Child Abuse America is a national nonprofit in the civic and social sector, founded in 1972 in Chicago. It pursues the healthy development of children and families and leads primary prevention efforts intended to stop child abuse and neglect before it begins. The organization coordinates a nationwide network of chapters across all 50 states and more than 625 Healthy Families America sites, aiming to strengthen communities through evidence-based prevention and support. It advocates for national policies and frameworks that prioritize children and families and promotes practices that empower parents to participate in prevention. It seeks partnerships with individuals, organizations, and communities that share the goal of helping every child thrive. In 2026 it announced a collaboration with Positive Childhood Alliance North Carolina to support Child Abuse Prevention Month.
