The Princeton-Blairstown Center (PBC) is an outdoor education center that serves young people, primarily from historically marginalized communities, by nurturing their social-emotional skills through experiential, environmental, and adventure-based programming. Developing these skills enables our participants to engage in self-discovery and transform their communities to create a more just world. We collaborate with schools, university partners, and community-based agencies to develop in youth deepened self-awareness, responsible decision-making, teamwork, and leadership skills. Our educational methodology combines critical thinking skills, experiential education facilitating Social Emotional Learning, and practical applications in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Our wide variety of year-round, multi-service programs serve over 6,000 students from the Mid-Atlantic states. Many of these students daily confront the challenges and risk factors of urban poverty. Throughout our efforts, we are committed to sustainability, including using renewable energy and conserving resources.
