Proactive Technologies was a New York–based IT services company focused on computer networking products and serving clients in the alternative investment sector. Founded in 2007, it grew to support more than 120 clients, with the majority located in the New York City area. In 2019, Abacus Group completed its acquisition of Proactive, and the two firms merged under the Abacus umbrella, with Proactive leadership joining Abacus as managing directors to help guide the integration of staff and clients.

The acquisition positioned Abacus as the largest IT managed service provider focused on alternative investment firms in the New York metropolitan region by client count. Proactive employees were set to move to Abacus’ Midtown Manhattan headquarters as the integration progressed. Proactive clients would gain access to Abacus’ cloud platform and related services through the Abacus Client Portal, including ongoing support, cybersecurity offerings, global coverage, and compliance tooling.
