From its inception PURE has been an advocate of urban revitalization. Throughout the years PURE has effectively lobbied financial institutions to recognize the ability of many lower income residents to be worthy credit risks, acknowledge the value, construction quality and rehabilitation potential of older homes and help create financing options for the redevelopment of properties. PURE has also developed relationships with community organizations and city governments, designed savvy marketing campaigns to promote neighborhood living and been a leader in the design, feasibility analysis and marketing of new construction homes and condominium conversions. These factors have served as a catalyst for the stabilization and growth of Cleveland's urban real estate market.

Progressive Urban Real Estate (PURE) was founded in 1986 at a time when property in Cleveland was not viewed as a good investment. Well before the trend of returning to urban neighborhoods became popular, PURE recognized that there was an abundance of underutilized housing, land and commercial properties throughout the city. There were also many interested buyers to whom these properties were not being promoted. The company saw its mission as bringing the two together.
