Project Rebirth is a small nonprofit based in New York City, New York, that grew out of the Peabody-winning documentary Rebirth. The film traces disaster recovery efforts and the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site, and the organization leverages that work to address the preparedness needs of first responders as frontline responders. Its mission is to chronicle living history, honor 9/11 victims and first responders, and advance educational initiatives focused on pre-trauma resiliency for first responders. The organization operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations, with proceeds from the commercial distribution of Rebirth directed to program support. In its work, the organization centers memory, safety, and preparedness.
