ProLiteracy Worldwide is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing adult literacy through the development and promotion of learning content, programs, and advocacy for adult learners. It collaborates with members, partners, local and international organizations, and the learners themselves to build capacity and improve the quality of programs that teach adults. In the United States, it provides professional development, training, technical assistance, publications, online resources, and credentialing services for program directors, instructors, trainers, and volunteer tutors. The organization also publishes educational materials addressing the needs of adult learners and youths, distributes a weekly plain-English news source, and sponsors a biennial conference, while engaging in international partnerships to develop programs linking native-language literacy with community projects. ProLiteracy was formed in 2002 through the merger of Laubach Literacy International and Literacy Volunteers of America and is based in Syracuse, New York.
