Prometheus Radio Project is a non-profit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded in 1998 by a small group of radio activists. The organization focuses on building and supporting community radio stations, with an emphasis on LPFM (low-power FM) stations, to empower participatory voices and movements for social change. Its work includes demystifying media technologies and the regulatory processes that govern access to the media system, as well as examining the impact of media on communities. The project aims to cultivate a broad community of listeners and stations that can collectively influence the future of democratic media and media democracy, supporting groups at all stages of establishing community radio and facilitating public participation in the FCC regulatory process.
