Proto Homes is an industrialized homebuilding platform. Proto Platform is the world’s first web-based platform to Bring the Industrial Production Model to Homebuilding.

The Proto Platform offers homebuilders everywhere access to a Lego-like set of proprietary integrated components that can be assembled into fully customizable homes at any size, as well as a suite of app-based tools to manage the production and installation of the components. Additionally, the platform will support a JIT component delivery system and connect homebuilders to a nationwide network of prescreened design and building professionals who are trained in designing with and installing the components. 

Component manufacturing and delivery are handled by local Proto Fulfillment Centers, which are independently owned and operated and licensed by Proto Homes. The Proto Platform provides these local fulfillment centers with all the essentials, including manufacturing capabilities and access to an industrial supply chain, enabling small, regional builders to finally build homes as efficiently and cheaply as the large builders servicing the Base Market.  

It's easy to imagine a future in which the homebuilding industry is simply further consolidated by large scale builders. In this future, these players have little incentive to change how they build and little to offer the market other than size and more of the same. Productivity in the homebuilding industry continues to lag and the domestic housing shortage deepens further aggravating the housing market. 

In the future envisioned by Proto Homes, the cottage homebuilding industry will consolidate around building platforms rather than a select handful of legacy builders. As the homebuilding industry becomes productized, these new platforms will serve as a one-stop shop for every aspect of the homebuilding process, from design to permitting to materials procurement and production, assembly, post-occupancy services and more.
