Providence Health Care is a large faith-based health care organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia, operating across 17 sites in the province. It provides care designed to address physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs for families, patients, and residents, guided by the principle "How you want to be treated." The system concentrates on six population groups: heart and lung, HIV/AIDS, mental health, kidney and renal, seniors, and urban health. It collaborates with major health partners including the BC Ministry of Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, and the Provincial Health Services Authority, and houses the Providence Health Care Research Institute which conducts research across more than 30 clinical specialties. A key academic anchor is St. Paul’s Hospital, one of two adult academic health science centres in the province, with centers of excellence and affiliated research programs; in 2026 the organization announced expansion at St. Paul’s and the development of an innovation hub to advance care and research.
