Based in Houston, Texas, the PTSD Foundation of America is a mid-sized nonprofit that supports veterans and their families dealing with combat-related post-traumatic stress. Its flagship Camp Hope program, located in northwest Houston, provides six to nine months of interim housing and a holistic recovery approach that includes peer support, counseling, mentoring, and professional development. For those who do not require residential care, five regional Chapters host Warrior Groups—confidential, peer-led gatherings for Veterans and their families—while Family Groups help loved ones manage their own mental health and strengthen home life. Founded in 2005 by volunteers who searched for homeless Veterans on the streets of Houston, the organization has grown into a national movement aimed at reducing Veteran suicide and helping participants regain purpose. Camp Hope has helped more than 2,300 combat Veterans, reflecting its reach within the veteran community in the United States.
