The Public Investment Corporation (PIC) is a government-owned investment management company based in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, employing between 501 and 1000 people. It manages funds on behalf of public sector clients, including pension, provident, social security, or guardian funds, with investments across asset classes such as equities, fixed income and dealing, properties, and unlisted investments. The PIC has more than a century of experience in managing public sector funds and, as of 31 March 2025, reports assets under management exceeding R3 trillion, ranking it among Africa's largest asset managers. Its mandate includes growing and safeguarding entrusted assets while pursuing development-oriented investment approaches that can benefit the South African population, with a focus on Environmental, Social and Governance considerations.
