This page is being set up to attract funding in order to publicize and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the original Punk Magazine, which was first published in early 1976. Punk Magazine launched the punk rock movement, help many early punk bands like the Ramones, Blondie and the Dead Boys get record deals, and published fifteen very influential magazines between 1976 and 1979. Visit www.punkmagazine.com to see more!

There are many big events being planned around the many 40th anniversaries that will be taking place. The biggest will be around the release of the Ramones' first LP in April 1976. Punk Magazine was instrumental in bringing world attention the the band that really started it all. The first record cover of their Sire Records LP was photographed by Roberta Bayley for Punk Magazine. Their first single in England, "Blitzkrieg Bop", used a photo comic from PUNK #3 (with photos by then-manager Danny Fields and lettering by John Holmstrom) for the record cover artwork. Holmstrom later contributed artwork to Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin.

Punk Magazine also worked with Blondie a lot: Chris Stein, their writer and guitar player, contributed material to Punk in almost every issue. Punk also documented the first Sex Pistols US tour with a story that has been credited as the "definitive account."

Since the, Punk has published a Filmbook for the "DOA: A Rite of Passage" film (in 1981); two books of reprinted material (Punk: The Original and more recently The Best of Punk Magazine by Harper Collins, still on sale). Since 2000, four issues have been published, the most recent in 2008, which chronicled the history of CBGB.

For the 40th anniversary we are planning a gallery exhibition; a reprint of the legendary first issue (with a comic strip interview with Lou Reed and the infamous anti-disco editorial); and a brand-new issue, which will be available in a limited edition.

Please help us celebrate the birth of Punk!!!
