Quobyte is a software company that develops storage designed to support artificial intelligence workloads. It was founded by two former Google engineers who applied hyperscaler storage concepts to address the complexity and constraints of traditional enterprise and HPC storage. The company's software emphasizes robust resilience and AI-focused performance on commodity servers, with the ability to scale across data centers, on-premises, or in the cloud. It targets enterprises in finance, life sciences, research, and AI, enabling small teams to operate exabyte-scale infrastructure and maximize GPU utilization and return on investment. Based in Santa Clara, California, Quobyte operates with a relatively small team. In 2025 the company launched Quobyte 4, a newer platform intended to accelerate AI training and scale-out workloads across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
