R.A. Brown Ranch is a family-owned ranching operation based in Throckmorton, Texas. Founded in 1895 and now run by the fifth generation of the Brown family, the business centers on cattle production alongside a Quarter Horse breeding program. The operation maintains seedstock lines for four cattle breeds—Angus, Red Angus, SimAngus, and Hotlander, a four-breed composite developed on the ranch in the late 1980s. Extensive records are kept on more than 1,000 seedstock cows. Since 1974, the ranch has held its annual production sale on the second Wednesday in March and October at the ranch in Throckmorton. These activities reflect its long-standing emphasis on breeding and genetics within its cattle program.
