At Raffles International School (RIS), we believe every child should feel happy, safe and confident. In the Early Years we provide a supportive and secure environment which enables our children to grow and flourish socially, emotionally and academically. We offer the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. It provides a framework that our teachers can use to create a broad and balanced curriculum that is both age and stage-appropriate and that meets the diverse needs of the children in our care. Students in the Primary School at RIS follow the National Curriculum of England from Years 1 to 6. Our curriculum aims to facilitate a broader depth of study in English, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Art, Music, and Physical Education. In addition, from Year 3 upwards students have the option to choose an additional language and learn either French, Spanish or Mandarin. One of our aims in Primary School is to help and encourage students to make connections as their young minds are developing. In Secondary School, students study a variety of subjects which culminate in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). This is the world’s most popular international examination framework for 14-16-year-olds, leading to globally recognised and valued 16+ qualifications. IGCSE encourages learner-centred and enquiry-based approaches to learning. Having completed their iGCSEs, students can continue for two more years to complete their A Levels or BTEC. A broad range of A Level options is available and in keeping with our commitment to very personalised pathways, subjects are regularly added where there is sufficient demand. Raffles International School is rated ‘Outstanding’ by BSO and is rated ‘Very Good’ by KHDA.
