Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit housing organization that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Formed in 1991, Raritan Valley Habitat builds strength, stability, and self-reliance in Somerset and Hunterdon Counties through affordable homeownership, home repair, neighborhood revitalization, and educational programs. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

According to 2023 census data, more than 40% of renters in both counties spent 35% or more of their household income on rent. To afford a fair market, 2-bedroom rental ($2176) while using 30% of their income, a household would need to earn $87,040 per year. These skyrocketing costs drive families to make terrible decisions between necessities like housing and food, healthcare, and education.
