RAWdance is a contemporary dance company founded in 2004 in San Francisco, California, that creates performances designed to transform theaters and public spaces through layered, intellectually engaged movement. The organization pursues a dual focus: producing theatrical works and expanding access to art by presenting dance in non-traditional venues such as galleries, public plazas, and civic spaces, thereby reaching diverse audiences beyond conventional stages. Under the direction of Wendy Rein, Ryan T. Smith, and Katerina Wong, RAWdance develops works that explore social and intimate themes, and it engages in collaborations, residencies, and festival appearances across the United States and Asia. The company maintains its status as a home company of ODC Theater and participates in residencies at several creative centers, while also expanding its footprint with a New York Hudson Valley branch established in 2019. A notable recent development includes a site-specific collaboration with Salesforce Park, delivering a free, public performance that combines movement with multimedia storytelling in a prominent San Francisco venue.
