Reach University, based in Oakland, California, operates in the higher education sector with a focus on turning work experience into recognized degrees. Through Reach Teachers College, the institution offers apprenticeship-based Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees for full-time school employees, along with alternative certification pathways for teachers and administrative credentials for school leaders. The university also houses the National Center for the Apprenticeship Degree, which provides technical assistance to other institutions developing apprenticeship-based degree programs. Its primary customers are educators and school systems seeking degree advancement for staff while remaining in their roles, as well as partner institutions pursuing apprenticeship-based degree initiatives. Recent collaborations with school districts and colleges—such as Marshall County School District and Delgado Community College—illustrate Reach University's role in expanding practice-based pathways in education.
