Reading Partners is a national education nonprofit that works with Title I elementary schools to help students who are reading below grade level develop essential literacy skills. The organization mobilizes community volunteers to provide one-on-one reading instruction, guided by a research-validated curriculum. Each year, Reading Partners recruits and trains more than 15,000 volunteers to support students who are roughly six months to two-and-a-half years behind their grade level. Based in Oakland, California, the program has expanded from a modest California presence to more than 160 schools across eight states and the District of Columbia, while maintaining strong student outcomes. The organization partners with CNCS and relies on AmeriCorps volunteers to power its reading centers and outreach. In 2024, Reading Partners launched AT&T Connected Learning to address the digital divide by expanding connectivity and technology for learners.
