Recovery on Water (ROW) is a Chicago-based non-profit that runs a rowing program for breast cancer patients and survivors, providing opportunities to connect, stay active, and receive peer support during recovery. The program targets individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and aims to increase exercise consistency and improve their quality of life. Programming runs six days a week year-round, with on-water sessions on the Chicago River in spring through fall and indoor workouts on rowing machines in winter. ROW was founded in 2008 through a collaboration between a breast cancer survivor and a high school rowing coach, and has since grown to serve members from Chicago and its suburbs. To support its expanded programming, the organization added an indoor space on the south side and a fleet of ergs. It also launched Power10 Camp in 2018 to extend its reach to women nationwide, and in 2020 appointed Maggie Dwyer as executive director.
