Region 4 ESC is a regional education service center established by the Texas Legislature in 1967 to assist school districts and charter schools in improving student performance and operating more efficiently. As a nonregulatory, intermediate education unit defined by Texas Education Code, it enables districts to participate voluntarily. Serving a seven-county area, Region 4 ESC collaborates with 48 public school districts and 37 open-enrollment charter schools, representing more than 1.2 million students, 97,000 educators, and 1,500 campuses.
