Region Värmland is a regional government organization formed by the county council and its 16 municipalities to coordinate development, culture, public transport, and adult education across Värmland. It originated in 2001 as a municipal association and, following 2007 changes that allowed counties to create cooperative bodies, took on responsibilities for regional infrastructure planning, including rail, road, shipping, and aviation. The organization also runs several regional education and resource centers, such as five adult education colleges, Visit Värmland, the Regional Resource Center for Dance, and the Regional Energy Agency. Its work is aimed at creating conditions for growth that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. 

Based in Karlstad, Värmland, it operates within the government administration sector and employs a few thousand people. Its principal customers are the county’s municipalities and residents, for whom it provides governance and services related to infrastructure, education, and public transport.
