The Reinsurance Association of America (RAA) is the principal trade association for property and casualty reinsurers active in the U.S. market. Its membership spans reinsurance underwriters and intermediaries licensed in the United States, along with entities that operate on a cross-border basis. Based in Washington, D.C., the RAA represents its members before state, federal, and international authorities and advocates for a regulatory framework that keeps the industry globally competitive and financially robust.
Its public policy priorities include catastrophe risk financing at federal and state levels, regulatory reform, international trade and tax policy, accounting and financial reporting, solvency oversight, and climate-related risk. In 2023, the organization announced a leadership transition with Lee Covington named president-elect and slated to assume the CEO role by year-end, succeeding longtime president Frank Nutter.
