REMSA is a private nonprofit, community-based emergency medical services provider based in Reno, Nevada, and has operated since 1986. It delivers ground ambulance services and related EMS offerings, including 9-1-1 response and transport, interfacility transfer, disaster preparedness, special events coverage, search and rescue, tactical medical support, and public education. The organization handles roughly 70,000 service requests each year and is the largest employer of EMS personnel in Northern Nevada. REMSA operates under a performance-based franchise with the Washoe County Health District and is the sole provider of emergency and inter-facility ground ambulance transport within Washoe County, excluding Incline Village and Gerlach. It is funded exclusively by user fees with no local tax subsidies. In 2026, REMSA launched the EMS Explorer Program in partnership with Northern Nevada Public Health to offer hands-on EMS training to students.
