Renaissance Charter Schools operate free, public charter schools in Western Queens, New York, with the Jackson Heights campus acting as the primary location. Founded about 30 years ago by educators, parents, and community leaders, the schools aim to address local educational needs and opportunities. The curriculum is organized into three interconnected strands, namely core studies, experiential learning, and community leadership, with social-emotional learning integrated to support students' ability to navigate daily life. Renaissance Charter School 2 (TRCS 2) opened in September 2020, initially sharing space with Martin Luther High School in Maspeth, while a permanent Elmhurst campus was developed. The home campus began operating in Fall 2022 and currently serves Kindergarten through 6th grade and 9th–10th grades, with plans to expand toward a full K-12 configuration. The TRCS 2 program reflects the multicultural makeup of Queens and welcomes students and families regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, home language, learning needs, or national origin.
