Resetting the Table is a civic and social organization based in New York City, founded in 2014, that aims to counter toxic polarization and help foster a shared democracy. The group draws on mediation, international conflict resolution, trauma therapy, and social research to provide training, forums for dialogue, and depolarizing media content through partnerships with strategic audiences to maximize impact. Its core activities are training and capacity-building, convening and facilitation, and depolarizing media and mass storytelling. Its programs have directly reached more than 80,000 Americans in 49 states, including television writers and journalists, higher education administrators, faith leaders, and other multipliers positioned to drive culture change. Evaluations based on pre/post and longitudinal surveys indicate meaningful and sustained improvements in leaders’ ability to tackle polarized divisions.
