Restore America’s Estuaries (RAE) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., founded in 1995. It coordinates a national alliance of 10 coastal conservation groups dedicated to restoring and preserving America’s estuaries and coasts. The organization serves as a unified voice for coastal conservation in the capital and supports restoration work across 11 estuaries in 16 states. RAE advances habitat restoration through on-the-ground projects, scientific development, high-level meetings, and its biennial National Coastal and Estuarine Summit. Its work encompasses restoring wetlands, opening fish passages, removing invasive species, building living shorelines, transplanting seagrasses, replanting salt marshes, and restoring shellfish habitat, carried out in partnership with communities, private entities, and government agencies. In late 2025, RAE announced the 2026 Coastal & Estuarine Summit, to be co-hosted with its member Save the Bay in San Francisco, signaling ongoing leadership in coastal restoration.
