River City Food Bank is the oldest, continuously serving food bank in Sacramento and the only Sacramento-area food bank open every week day to anyone experiencing hunger from anywhere in Sacramento County. River City Food Bank offers nutritionally-balanced 3-day emergency supply of food, as well as compassion and hope. Created by the community for the community, River City Food Bank began in 1968 as River City Community Services. The philosophy then, as now, was simple: “No one should be hungry.” Entering a fifth decade of service, River City Food Bank has grown into a trusted community resource. Contributions from generous individuals, businesses, the faith community, private foundations and a stellar team of weekly volunteers support our work.
