The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) provides services and assistance to protect and empower vulnerable people in our community. In 1923, with just two employees, Riverside County launched a public welfare program that now services over 1 million people each year! Nearly a century later, we are 4300 employees strong. We support working class individuals and families who are struggling with low income. We offer access to health care coverage, temporary financial assistance, employment programs and training, and services that protect children and adults from abuse and neglect. We do all of this through our five departments: Administration, Adult Services, Children’s Services, Self Sufficiency, and Fiscal and Forecasting. Our mission is to support and improve the health, safety, well-being and independence of our county’s individuals and families. We work according to 7 values: Accountability, Collaboration, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Learning and Customer Focus. We strive to be an organization known by our caring professionals who collaborate with the best partners to provide the most effective solutions to customers and individuals and families in crisis.
