Founded in 1937, Roger Vivier is the eponymous Maison of the French shoe designer Roger Vivier (1907 –1998), one of the 20th century’s most prodigious and revolutionary talents in the world of high fashion and luxury footwear. After opening his first boutique on the rue Royale in Paris, Monsieur Vivier designed thousands of whimsical, artistic, desirable shoes for the world’s most celebrated women, from Queen Elizabeth II to Brigitte Bardot. Throughout his lifetime, Monsieur Vivier created over 20 new heel shapes that evolved the traditional world of shoe design and the silhouette of fashion forever. The ‘Aiguille’ (needle), ‘Choc’ (shock), ‘Virgule’ (comma) and ‘Polichinelle’ (puppet) heels are just a few of the graphic and architectural heel shapes that he imagined for women, offering diverse possibilities for dressing up, night and day. Italian designer Gherardo Felloni has presided over the Maison of Roger Vivier as Creative Director since 2018, infusing the collections with his joyful, decorative spirit – evolving the legacy of the founder with his worldly design language for today. Expanding the collections to include handbags, jewellery, hats and gloves, Gherardo’s creations are worn by actresses and singers, artists and royalty alike, from Cate Blanchett and Isabelle Huppert to Rihanna.
