In 1991 Dr. Perry Ratcliff, one of America's leading periodontists and experts on dental health and gum disease, and a team of leading dental professionals formed Rowpar Pharmaceuticals Inc. to study, and improve oral care. They set out to create over-the-counter products that could do more than just the usual of freshening breath and whitening teeth. 

During Dr. Ratcliff's years of clinical practice, he discovered that Cloralstan™ (stabilized chlorine dioxide) which helped to significantly reduce the harmful bacteria in the mouths of his patients. This discovery led him to create the uniquely different, highly effective, and extremely gentle line of oral care products now called CloSYS (pronounced; klōw·sis).
