Opened in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum collects and presents art, culture, and nature from around the world and across time. It houses more than 18 million objects, ranging from Egyptian mummies to contemporary sculpture, meteorites to dinosaurs. It is the most visited museum in Canada and ranks among North America’s leading institutions, while also functioning as the country’s preeminent field research organization supported by a diverse team of experts. Its building combines historic architecture with the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, reinforcing ROM’s status as a major cultural destination. Based in Toronto, Ontario, ROM maintains a workforce of hundreds and serves a broad audience of visitors, researchers, and international guests through its collections and scholarly work. In 2026, the museum announced the appointment of Nicholas R. Bell as Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 6, 2026.
