Rural Health Medical Program, Inc. is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center based in Selma, Alabama, with roots dating to 1977 when it began in Uniontown. It operates eight community health center sites and a medical mobile unit to extend primary health care and dental services to medically underserved residents across rural counties in Alabama. The organization provides care regardless of ability to pay and accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, using a sliding fee scale for uninsured and underinsured. As part of the Hospitals and Health Care sector, it aims to deliver quality and affordable preventive and primary health care to diverse patient populations. The center’s service area includes residents in Dallas, Perry, Wilcox, Marengo, Monroe, and Clarke counties, with Clarke County planned to join in the near term. In 2022, RHMP partnered with Legal Services Alabama to help address residents’ legal needs in the Black Belt, reflecting an approach to broaden support beyond traditional health services.
