Sadie Nash Leadership Project is a New York City–based nonprofit founded in 2001 that serves more than 700 low-income young women and gender-expansive youth ages 11 to 22 from New York City and Newark, New Jersey. The organization supports their development through a mix of programs, including a flagship Summer Institute, yearlong classes in schools and social service agencies, advanced fellowships, paid internships, a comprehensive college program, and opportunities for organizational stewardship. Its work centers on strengthening and empowering these youths to become leaders in their own lives and communities. Over more than two decades, SNLP has demonstrated long-term positive impacts on participants, supported by a 2012 study, and has maintained solid financial health alongside two leadership transitions. The organization has received notable recognitions, including the 2020 Brooklyn Community Foundation Spark Prize, the 2013 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award presented at the White House by the First Lady, and the 2010 New York Times Gold Prize for Overall Management Excellence.
