Safe Place is a national program focused on youth outreach and immediate safety, operating across the United States. It relies on a network of more than 20,000 community and business locations that display the Safe Place sign, providing access to help at venues such as libraries, fire stations, YMCAs, public buses, grocery stores, restaurants, and social service facilities. The program provides training and technical support for 130 licensed Safe Place agencies across 39 states and the District of Columbia. In 2009, Safe Place launched TXT 4 HELP, a 24-hour text-for-support service that enables youths to text SAFE and their location to 69866 to receive the nearest Safe Place location and local shelter contact, with the option to connect with a mental health professional. Safe Place operates as a program of the National Safe Place Network, based in Louisville, Kentucky, and a 2026 partnership with QuikTrip Corp. illustrates ongoing collaboration with youth-serving organizations.
