Sam Ash Music Stores is a long-established, family-owned retailer focused on musical instruments and related gear. The business operates a nationwide network of stores alongside a robust e-commerce platform, offering instruments and equipment across categories such as guitars, drums, pianos, recording and live sound gear, band and orchestra instruments, and sheet music. It originated in 1924 with a Brooklyn storefront that sold string instruments and brass, later expanding to records and broader offerings. Its customers include individual musicians, educators, and students seeking instruments, accessories, lessons, and repair services. The company provides instructional offerings and instrument maintenance through repairs, and it hosts periodic events like meet-and-greets and open mic nights across its locations. Within the U.S. music retail landscape, Sam Ash positions itself as the largest family-owned operator with more than 45 locations and a strong online presence, anchored in the New York metropolitan region.
