Samaritan is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian organization based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, founded in 1980 in Moorestown. It provides hospice care, palliative medicine, primary care at home, transitional support, grief counseling, end-of-life education, and advocacy, delivering services to people in their homes, in assisted-living settings, and in nursing facilities. The organization operates two inpatient hospice centers, The Samaritan Center in Mt. Holly and The Samaritan Center in Voorhees, and runs a Westmont thrift shop that supports its programs. Samaritan serves five counties in the region—Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer—and holds accreditation from The Joint Commission, while being a member of NHPCO and the Home Care & Hospice Association of New Jersey. It also participates in NHPCO's We Honor Veterans program in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, earning a four-star designation.
