Based in Chicago, Illinois, the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, Inc. is a small nonprofit that unites progressive African American faith leaders and their congregations across the United States. Founded in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization, it pursues the goal of nurturing, sustaining, and mobilizing the Black faith community in collaboration with civic, corporate, and philanthropic partners to address human and social justice needs at local, national, and global scales. It emphasizes developing the individual and collective capacity of thought leaders and activists in church, academy, and community through education, advocacy, and activism, and works to resource and organize partner churches, clergy, and lay leaders to address diverse community concerns.

Through partnerships with actors from academic, business, policy, and nonprofit sectors, SDPC seeks to maximize the reach and effectiveness of its outreach efforts. A notable development noted in its recent activity is a 2019 partnership with Daniel Beaty.
