The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is an independent agency created in 2003 to manage the day-to-day operations of San Diego International Airport and to address the region’s long-term air transportation needs. Its responsibilities encompass operating the airport, planning for future regional air transportation, and serving as the region’s Airport Land Use Commission to ensure land-use plans protect public health and safety around all airports in the county. It is governed by a nine-member board representing all parts of San Diego County and three ex-officio members, with three members on an Executive Committee.
