The San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy is a San Diego-based nonprofit focused on conserving the San Dieguito River Park through habitat restoration, public education, and recreation programs. It collaborates with government agencies and landowners to restore habitat across the San Dieguito watershed, including sites such as Bernardo Mountain, Crest Canyon, the Lagoon Pond, Lake Hodges, Del Dios Gorge, and Santa Ysabel West. Educational initiatives include a Citizen Science program with more than 180 participants conducting surveys of Argentine ants, plants, and birds, along with wildlife tracking. In 2015, the Watershed Explorers Program began through partnerships with the Volcan Mountain Foundation, San Dieguito River Park, and the San Diego Archaeological Center to teach students about watershed health, wildlife, water supply, and quality. On the recreation front, SDRVC advances the Coast to Crest Trail as a multi-use route and works to secure connections at Osuna Valley, Lusardi Creek, Pamo Valley, and Lake Sutherland, including collaborations such as a 2024 partnership with the San Diego Mountain Biking Association.
