Founded in 1948 and based in San Francisco, the San Francisco Foundation operates as a community foundation and grantmaking public charity serving the San Francisco Bay Area. It is one of the nation’s largest community foundations, mobilizing resources and acting as a catalyst for change to strengthen local communities, foster civic leadership, and promote philanthropy.
