Our Mission and Story: San Miguel School is an independent, tuition-free, Catholic middle school for boys that delivers holistic, evidence-based support grounded in Lasallian values. Through an extended school day, rigorous academics, and a comprehensive Graduate Support Program, we empower students from underserved communities to thrive in middle school, graduate from high school, and launch successfully into college, career, and adult life. Founded by the De La Salle Christian Brothers in 2002, San Miguel serves boys from underserved backgrounds—many from immigrant and low-income families—and provides each student a full scholarship and a high-quality, faith-rooted education. Nearly all funding is raised through the generosity of individuals, foundations, and businesses. Our academic program emphasizes literacy, math, science, and character development, while nurturing confidence, leadership, and a sense of purpose. As a STEM Certified school through Cognia, we equip students—especially those historically underrepresented in STEM fields—with the skills, exposure, and encouragement to pursue new pathways once blocked by circumstance. Our Model: With 9-hour school days and a 200-day instructional year, San Miguel provides extended learning time to accelerate academic growth. Students typically enter our school 1–2 years behind grade level and graduate performing at or above national benchmarks in reading and math. We support the whole child by offering two meals and a snack each day and maintaining a 10:1 student-teacher ratio, enhanced by a dedicated team of tutors and mentors. This model enables personalized instruction, strong relationships, and deeper learning. Through our Graduate Support Program, students receive continued guidance throughout high school and into college or the workforce, ensuring long-term success beyond middle school.
