SR-Tiget is a Milan-based research institute focused on advancing gene and cell therapies. It operates as a joint venture between Fondazione Telethon and Ospedale San Raffaele, a leading research hospital on the OSR campus in Milan, Lombardy. Founded in 1996, the institute has built capabilities to translate laboratory discoveries into experimental therapies and to support clinical research within a multidisciplinary campus that also includes a biomedical research center, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, and several biotech companies. Over its history, SR-Tiget has contributed to the gene and cell therapy field and to translating discoveries into experimental clinical work. It has conducted gene therapy trials for inherited immunodeficiencies, blood and lysosomal storage disorders, treating more than 160 patients and leading to the filing or marketing of three novel advanced therapy medicines. The institute sits within the OSR campus ecosystem that continues to foster applications of cell and gene therapy platforms, including recent reports of CRISPR-based treatment development involving the campus network.
