Sarasota Opera is a mid-sized performing arts organization based in Sarasota, Florida, dedicated to presenting opera to the southwest Gulf Coast. It holds a distinctive record as the only company in the world to have performed every work by Giuseppe Verdi, and it is recognized for staging rarely produced operas while balancing respect for tradition with innovative approaches. The company is entering its 67th consecutive season, highlighting its long-standing role in the American opera scene.

It operates a long-running Apprentice Artists program, launched in 1982 to help singers transition from student to professional life and to focus on standard repertoire from Mozart to Puccini. In 2026, the organization announced that its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Victor DeRenzi, would step down at the end of his contract in May after a 44-year tenure. Based in Sarasota, the ensemble engages with the regional performing arts community and maintains an ongoing schedule of productions and related events.
