Saudi Biotechnology Manufacturing Company (SaudiBio) was established in 2010 as the first and the only Insulin manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia and one of the leading biopharmaceutical companies in the region. The manufacturing site is located in Sudair Industrial & Business City with an area of 10,000 m2. The aseptic fill and finish facility are built using Modular Design – used for the first time in the middle east - by a Swedish Engineering company - KeyPlants. All the installed filling machinery and advanced applied technologies were manufactured by the German Company, Groninger, whereas BOSCH international has built SaudiBio packaging and labeling solutions. In 2018, SaudiBio has signed Technology Transfer and Supply Agreement to localize Insulin Manufacturing, Novo Nordisk, the largest insulin manufacturer in the world. This agreement between SaudiBio and Novo Nordisk makes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the fifth country in the world that has Novo Nordisk local manufacturing site. Saudi Bio is proud and honored to sign technology transfer agreements with different well-known biopharmaceutical companies to localize various sterile products. Qualified Saudis Program (QSP) is establish in 2017 to meet one of SaudiBio founders’ goals which is to qualify, train and Saudization all vacancies with qualified Saudi heads and reach 100% Saudization during the upcoming years. The vision of the SaudiBio founders is to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the forefront of the world to lead the biotech industries in the Middle East. Saudi Bio’s biotech plant is the first move to achieve company’s long-term goal, which is the establishment of the first biotech city (Saudi Bio city) in Saudi Arabia.
