Save the Harbor/Save the Bay is a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization based in Boston, Massachusetts, focused on restoring and protecting Boston Harbor and Massachusetts Bay and ensuring public access for all. The group mobilizes a broad coalition of citizens, scientists, and leaders from civic, corporate, cultural, and community sectors to advance clean water, environmental protection, and educational and recreational opportunities tied to the region’s coast. Its work includes operating free harbor-focused youth education and recreation programs and coordinating numerous family-friendly events at public beaches, aiming to connect residents—particularly those living near the coast—with the harbor, beaches, and islands. Since 1986 the organization has been a leading voice for the Boston Harbor Clean-Up, and in recent years has expanded its emphasis on public access and engagement by creating events and partnerships that broaden participation and support for harbor-related initiatives. A notable ongoing effort is its collaboration with partners and sponsors to host or support annual beach activities and charitable fundraising events that benefit the Better Beaches program and related outreach.
